I love civics because when we talk and go over all this information many kids get bogged down in things and feel helpless because "what can they do." But when they realize they can impact life and that it may be a few years away, but they'll get to have their say. When those lights go on in their eyes and the determination and fire starts to burn. That gives me hope that they will participate and democracy will survive a little while longer. They will fight to keep their voices and be heard. That's when I know that I succeeded.

I love it... when the kids see their own power
Ashley, what a great comment. I feel the same way. I love watching the lights go on. For me personally, when I do the We the People program in my classroom I feel so excited to be surrounded by my kids talking Constitutional Law, Founding Documents and the Rule of Law. It is the highlight of my year.
