Recently, Illinois became the 37th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Technically, the amendment died in 1982 with only 35 states ratifying (it takes 38 states approval to ratify). What impact, if any, will recent events have on the ERA Amendment process? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/31/us/equal-rights-amendment-illinois.html
What a great article. Thanks for sharing. I especially like the quote "They would be drafted by the U.S. military to fight on the front lines in wars, she said, and forced to use unisex restrooms." If only Phyllis Schlafly could see us now. Women are taking on more and more responsibilities in the military and defending our country bravely. Unisex bathrooms are more common as well.
The article mentioned the adoption of the 27th Amendment, but it failed to mention that the idea of supporting passage of that amendment came from a college student in Texas. He got a bad grade from his professor on his research paper concerning the lost amendment. To prove her wrong, and with the help of his parents, he worked to lobby the last state to pass the 27th Amendment. His professor changed his grade.
